Milo Bail Student Center Renovation

University of Nebraska at Omaha

Omaha, NE

2016 Completion

$16 Million

The BCDM and Perkins+Will team was retained to provide design work on renovating the Milo Bail Student Center at the University of Nebraska-Omaha Campus. The major goal of the project is to transform the currently closed-off, hard-to-navigate, and relatively bleak facility into a vibrant hub of student activity and interaction – all while keeping the building operational throughout the construction process.

The design began with updating a variety of code-compliance upgrades to stairs, fire walls and other building features.  The team examined and complete office renovations/reconfigurations of many of the student services and business affairs departments throughout the building.

A new three-story atrium with stairs and elevators were incorporated to improve the flow of students through the building and help with wayfinding though the building.  The introduction of a new, contemporary concept café and convenience store marketplace on the first floor of the building provided a great student destination.  On the second floor, a Maverick Café overlooks the atrium space with a “sports bar” flavor.
