Metropolitan Community College Historic Mule Barn Renovation

Omaha, NE

2010 Completion

$2.5 Million

BCDM worked with MCC and the Nebraska State Historical Society in following the Secretary of the Interior’s “Standards for Rehabilitation” guidelines. Exterior rehabilitation work included new slate roofing and clerestory siding, copper flashings, masonry tuck-pointing, and insulated replica wood window sashes set in restored wood frames. Interior renovation work focused on the exposure of the barn’s hay loft clerestory level and celebration of its original wood structure.

The final project involved restoring the barn’s exterior and designing space to house Events Services, classrooms, and an executive board room.
